Great Coffee Maker With A Great Carafe!

I've been using this coffee maker for eight months now, and I love it! I'm drinking warm coffee right now that I brewed almost five hours ago! I primed the carafe by putting hot water in it for a few minutes and dumping it out before making my coffee this morning. If I don't prime, it usually keeps my coffee warm for 3+ hours. Not only does it keep the coffee warm longer than a standard coffee pot, it does so without using additional power to heat a warming plate, and it's safer than one with a warming plate and glass carafe because the outside is cool to touch.
The carafe can also be taken off the base and placed on any surface since it doesn't get hot on the outside, which is handy if my parents are visiting and we want to sit in the living room drinking our coffee. No more interrupting conversation to get up and go to the kitchen for a refill! I was going to buy an insulated carafe for this very reason, but I decided to get this when my old coffee maker (not a Mr. Coffee, for anyone who was wondering) stopped working. The cost was a little higher than standard coffee makers with glass carafes, but it was cheaper than buying a standard coffee maker and a separate insulated carafe, and I don't have to worry about finding a place in my kitchen to store a separate carafe with this. |

I had the Cuisinart grind and brew for ages. When it came time to get a new coffee maker I thought about getting it again, but I'm glad I skipped the extra expense and got the Mr. Coffee instead. Nothing against Cuisinart - their Grind and Brew is a fantastic product. I just want something that's simple, easy to use, easy to clean and does what it's supposed to do. I get up at O' Dark Thirty every morning while my significant other sleeps in. I program the timer the night before (very easy to do) and every morning I have tasty, hot coffee. When he gets up an hour or two later, the coffee is still hot and delicious. I think this coffeemaker makes coffee plenty hot enough - yet without the fear of it being overly cooked. Perhaps some people are used to hot-plates, common on other coffeemakers - which does tend to make for hotter (often cooked) brews.

| The timer and the other controls are easy to read and use. It's not hard at all to clean, if you rinse out the pot and filter cup with hot water right after the machine's been emptied, and then wipe the machine down where needed. The other thing I like about Mr. Coffee is that there are fewer parts to clean. It doesn't have a grinder, so that simplifies things a a lot, but with that Cuisinart I had to scrape it out once a week and fish the beans out of weird places. Anyway, big thumbs up for the Mr. Coffee. One last note: please consider getting the re-usable filter. It's better for the environment, you know. It also makes for better-tasting coffee. |

I have had this coffee maker for almost two years. I make about a pot of coffee a day. I bought this coffee maker after owning numerous other brands (cheap and expensive ones). I think this coffee tastes as good or better than the coffee from my Krups maker. The carafe is durable. If I keep the top closed , I can have a hot cup of coffee hours after it is finished brewing. Because it's kept warm from the carafe and not from a bottom burner, the coffee doesn't taste burnt hours later. I also like the fact that as soon as the coffee is brewed, the heating unit is off.
I really like the fact that the carafe isn't glass and it's very durable. I have owned other brands and had to replace the carafe because they cracked/smashed on the floor. The cost of the replacement carafe + shipping cost was at least half the price of a new coffee maker. I also really like the water reservoir because it's very easy to read. |
