Fantastic Coffeemaker

KitchenAid KCM534 Coffee Maker 14 Cup Programmable

All I can say is that this coffeemaker lives up to the fantastic reputation of KitchenAid. Works perfectly and makes the best coffee I have ever had. I have had quite a few different brands in the past and most of them high-end coffeemakers, but this one is, without a doubt, the best. The amount of coffee you can make is great, either a small amount or large amount.

We have a carafe and when we entertain an extra large group of coffee drinkers we just make a pot of coffee and put it into the carafe and then make another pot and leave in on the KitchenAid and there is plenty of great coffee for everyone. This coffee maker is so good we bought two for the office: black for regular and red for decaf. Multiple users have had no problem figuring out the straightforward process of brewing great pots of coffee. Easy to clean inside and out, too.

I purchased this coffee maker on a recommendation from a friend who used to own a coffee shop. He recommended KitchenAid since it has the java spray feature that gently showers the coffee for brewing. I read all the reviews about this coffeemaker and was a little concerned about the grinds spraying out as others mentioned. I have not had that issue at all whether I make 3 cups or 12 cups. I encourage you to read the manual since it gives some simple suggestions about making sure the carafe is put back in properly and the grounds are level in the filter. The only criticism I have is that it is not convenient to pour water directly into the coffee maker since you can't read the water line level inside the maker very easily. An external water level indicator would have been a nice feature. So, instead, I get the carafe out (which is a good thing since it forces me to clean it if I haven't done so already), measure the water in the carafe and then pour it into the back left side of the machine.

The coffee tastes great. I fresh grind my beans every morning, so I haven't used the timer feature yet, but it's nice knowing I can if I have to get up real early. It fits nicely under my cabinet, looks great with my black and stainless kitchen decor, and makes great, hot coffee quickly. The key to good coffee, per my coffee perfectionist friend, is fast brewing. I'm also going to enjoy the cleaning indicator feature since my friend also tells me its essential to keep the coffee maker clean in order for it to keep working properly (clean out with vinegar and water per the instructions in the book). Enjoy.

Krupps Coffeemaker Review - From A Coffee Lover

Kitchenaid Pro Coffee Maker

This is a very good coffee maker. It programs easily, looks great and like most coffee makers, makes a good pot of coffee. There are however, some minor design flaws. The lid to the carafe needed to be designed with more than a single slot for the brewed coffee to flow. Either users must position the handle to face directly in front (and not to either side) or during brewing, some coffee will flow over the lid. However, if a user positions the handle directly to face forward, coffee will not flow over the lid. Reading the water level on the reservoir is difficult to use. It is not clearly marked and users must rely on the carafe or the "filter rod" to measure the water level.

A clearly marked reservoir would have helped a lot. Last, the lid to the carafe is not removable and a fixed lid is cumbersome to clean. A better system would have allowed for a removable lid where users could easily place the carafe along with the separate lid into the dishwasher. The positives do out number the negatives. The coffee maker turns off automatically after two hours and a clear display of how long the pot has been sitting is prominent. The filter basket (the basket that holds the removable coffee filter) is also removable. That makes for easy cleaning. This is a big improvement over most manufactures who attach the filter basket as one unit, to the coffee maker.
