Best Coffee Maker I've Ever Owned!

After years of suffering through one cheap coffee maker after another, I finally made the leap and bought a quality product. Maybe part of my problem was that I am the only coffee drinker in my household and I wasn't buying the machines, but I decided to take matters into my own hands this time. Well, it was worth it! After doing lots of research, and reading countless reviews, many on this site, I decided on the Cuisinart DCC-1200BW Brew Central 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, Matte Black Metal. Best thing I could have done! The Cuisinart is sturdy, attractive, and well designed.

You will read complaints in other reviews about the opening to the water reservoir being too small, the clock being too small and the numbers for the water level being difficult to read, but these are all such nit-picky, insignificant things, it's unreal. This machine makes a great cup of coffee! It's very user-friendly and if you like your coffee hot, you can set it to take the skin off the roof of your mouth, if you wish. I've read reviews that this machine is too noisy, but it's actually quieter than many of the others I've owned. The matte black finish resists fingerprints and this is the only true drip-proof carafe I've ever used. It's even easy to clean. A can't-miss purchase and I highly recommend it!

A Fabulous Coffeemaker! Buy The Best - It's Worth It!!

When my fiancee and I saw this coffeemaker, we knew we had to put it on our wedding registry. Sure enough, a good friend of my fiancee's, knowing how much she and I love our morning coffee, bought it for my fiancee's bridal shower. Not only does the Cuisinart look really cool [I love the stainless steel, and the toggle switch and dials instead of buttons]it brews a great cup of coffee. It has a built in charcoal water filter similar to what you'd find in your average Brita pitcher [only smaller]. It comes with it's own conical permanent filter, that comes easily out for cleaning with a swinging handle. Even the basin in which the filter rests comes out for cleaning. Both are easily replaced.

The Carafe is not likely to spill, and is sleek. [It also holds 12 cups]. The Maker has a self-cleaning mode for cleaning out calcified deposits. It has a 1-4 cup heater that allows you to brew just enough for that on the go mug in the morning, and still get nice hot coffee. It's very easy to program the automatic start times. Just dial to the "program" mode, and set the time. Then dial back to "auto start" and turn it on! It has three settings for how warm you want the carafe to be kept, and it allows you to adjust the automatic shut off time. Replacement water filters are 10 bucks on the website, and need to be replaced every 3-6 months depending on how much coffee you brew.

After MUCH comparing of coffee makers I decided on the Cuisinart. Yes, it's beautiful but is it worth taking up space on your counter? I absolutely love this thing. It makes good HOT coffee and did I mention that it was beautiful? Others have complained about it being hard to pour the water in? I haven't had any problem with it. If you use the carafe that comes with the unit it has a nice pointy spout that easily pours into the tank. I have gotten rid of my Brita water filter as a result of buying this pot as it also comes with a water filtration system of it's own.

Make sure that you have space for this that is NOT under a cabinet as it's rather tall and you'd have to slide it out from under the cabinet to open the top. I also have started to leave the top cracked open for a few hours after I'm through with it to allow the condensation to evaporate. Sometimes quality kitchen items have to be handled with a little extra care you wouldn't put your Sabatier knives in the dishwasher would you? I also found the price very reasonable for the quality of this item and I can't even remember the last time I said THAT!
