After buying a succession of cheap coffee makers which broke down after a year or two and made mediocre coffee, I decided to upgrade to Cuisinart. The clock is easy to program and it's clearly indicated that you should either use paper or gold filter (twice in the instructions). It's also easy to pour water in the reservoir if you use the carafe. You can turn the coffee maker to the left, and the reservoir opening is easily accessible. Its opening is by no means tiny, as a reviewer described it.
The center funnel which holds the filter is well situated and there is very little risk of dropping coffee grounds into the water reservoir. The carafe is well designed, with a comfortable handle. It pours neatly, without dripping coffee all over the counter, something which always happened with my old Mr. Coffee. You do have to realize the lid snaps down on top of the carafe. This is not explained in the instructions. Most importantly, it makes an excellent coffee. There is a 3 year guaranty which is more than I have seen for others. So far, I have no complaint, and I am glad I bought this product for a great price. |

I purchased this Cuisinart DCC-1100 locally a few days ago because my Black and Decker pot died (less than a year old, but that's another story, for another review!) and had to immediately run out to buy a new pot. This pot comes with a cone, mesh style permanent filter & it had a couple paper filters & scoop included. It also came with a charcoal filter to be placed in a filter-holder, which goes inside the water tank in the back left side, which you must first soak 15 minutes in water, then rinse before using, per the instructions.
The instruction booklet is simple and straightforward and a quick read. First, as the directions state, I set the clock and programmed the "auto off" feature to shut the machine off after 40 minutes...it can be set to turn off from 0-4 hours if you want.

| A great feature, however, I generally pour the finished pot into a thermal carafe because in the past, most coffee makers keep "cooking" the coffee when you leave it on their "warming plate" so it's a habit I've gotten into. Also, even though you can program it to turn off in 4 hours, there would never be any coffee left after 2 hours around here, so I can't speak for the flavor of the coffee after being on the warming plate 4 hours! Bottom line - This is a great coffee maker with all the necessary features for me. I've only had the pot a week, so I'll try to report back with an update when it dies, as most of my pots do, in a year or less! We shall see! |

I loved it when I saw it and it is well worth the price, I'd have paid more!. It's so easy to use and everyone who has seen it loved the color too, and they notice the taste is better. It's different then the usual chrome, black or white that so many people have in their homes. It's also the best if you enjoy really HOT coffee, this one truly makes the coffee hot and there is no burn or bitter taste. The two hour timer for shut off is perfect, as perfect as the taste of the coffee this maker creates.
It arrived so quickly and I expected a wait but what a nice surprise when it arrived within a few days and I didn't pay for quick shipping either.
The ease of use is dummy proof and the coffee tasted better then any of the other coffee makers I have ever bought in the past, and at my age I have bought a lot of coffee makers! I've had expensive coffee makers and cheap coffee makers and bought every brand out there, this one is the best for the money I have ever purchased. I highly recommend it to anyone. I would have paid more. |
